The park with a commanding view of the Hangang River
In the historic literature related to Yeomchangsan Mountain, the name of the mountain is marked as Jeungsan Mountain. The name "Jeung" means "fishing out." It originates from a story: ships containing grains paid as a tax often sank near Yeomchangsan Mountain on their way to Yongsan via Ganghwa Bay. The name Jeungmi (meaning "fishing out sunken grains") originated from those who lived in this area and fished out such grains. Jeungmisan Mountain was later shortened to Jeungsan Mountain. Under Jeungsan Mountain was a warehouse that contained the salt to be transported to the capital of the Joseon Dynasty, and this is why the mountain is today called Yeomchangsan Mountain (salt warehouse).
