Yangcheongoseong Fortress Site

Yangcheongoseong Fortress Site is the site of an old fortress on Gungsan Mountain behind the Yangcheonhyanggyo Local Confucian School. It was built by King Munju, the 22nd king of the Baekje Dynasty before the transfer of the capital city (A.D. 475) in preparation for invasions by Goguryeo from beyond the Hangang River. Historians estimate that the fortress remained at the site until the period of King Seongjong of the Joseon Dynasty (1470).
