Pyeongchang-gun borders Gangneung-si and Jeongseon-gun to the east, Hoengseong-gun to the west, Hongcheon-gun to the north, and Yeongwol-gun to the south. In addition, the 1999 Gangwon Winter Asian Games, the 2013 Pyeongchang Special Olympics, the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, and the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympics were held.
Location
Pyeongchang-gun is located in the Taebaek Mountains, so places with an altitude of more than 700m account for about 60% of the total area. In particular, the three sides of the north, west, and east are surrounded by high mountains, and represent the topography inclined to the south.
